Description

Rainbow trout is a river fish from the Salmonid Family. It has a sturdy and gathered body, a short and prominent head and a small and rounded snout.

Adult, this fish can reach a size bigger than a meter long but generally speaking it measures between 30 and 60cm.

Color

The color of this kind of fish is variable hence its name “Rainbow”. The top part of its body can have a color from greenish to coffee and the inferior part is silver. Along its sides it has a reddish stripe typical of this kind of fish.

The head, the body and the dorsal fin are fully covered of black spots.

Diet

Its diet is diversified, mainly based on invertebrates and small fishes like the Puye and thus being essentially a meat-eating fish.

Environment

It lives in rivers, streams and lakes and prefers fast-flowing or not deep areas.
