Description

The Perch Trout is characterized by an elongated body, a thick head and a small mouth. It has a dorsal fin with a prickly part, separated from another white part by a deep cut.

Perch trout can reach 45cm long and weigh 1.2kg.

Color

The color of this specie changes depending on the environment. The body can be grey, greenish, orange or yellowish, whereas the ventral part can be white, yellow or orange with several black spots on the head, the body and the fin.

Diet

The diet of Perch trout is mainly based on crustaceans, mollusks and insects, among them dipters or two-winged insects like flies, mosquitoes or horseflies.

Environment

Perch Trouts live in rocky areas, without much mud in the environs of river currents. Their reproduction happens in spring, in lakes as well as in rivers.
