Scientific Name: Laureliopsis philippiana
Family: Monimiaceae

Description

Native tree from the South of our country, the Tepa tree can reach 30m high with 1,4m large of diameter. It has a thin bark and its wood is pale grey with a slight touch of yellow. The wood has a fine and homogeneous texture, and very demanded in the construction field. However, dampness can easily damage the wood which poorly resists it.

Tepa trees are located between the VII and XI regions, on deep and damp grounds, growing with other species like Oak and Rauli. They are known for being perennial specie and are often mistaken for Laurel because of the similarity of their leaves.
