Description
Small tree growing in temperate forests of the VII and XII regions of Chile. It belongs in open, sandy and humid areas. The Chilean tree is a small evergreen tree with straight trunk which grows up to 15 m tall and can reach 50 cm in diameter. The bark is dark grey with light and dark spots. It produces deep red flowers (occasionally pale yellow).
Its wood is light pink color: very soft but durable, it is used for elaborating kitchen utensils and vessels as well as other craft articles, for its high ductibility makes it easy to work.
