Description

The Avellanillo is a small tree which grows up to 10 meters high. Its distribution covers the national territory between the IV and X regions of Chile. Deep and humid soils are best suited for its perfect development, but it can also grow in dryer areas.

The wood of Avellanillo is of low quality -lower than the Wood of the Avellano- and of little use as firewood due to its a bad combustion ability, it actually is known as “firebreaker”. It stands out and is characterized by its precious dark streak on a lighter background.
